how does one get into an architecture college in India?
There are multiple exams that one can appear for but there are no clear guildelines on college or university websites about the exams that they accept.

Hi Paavni. To start your journey, aim to enroll in a PCM science course for your PUC college. Work hard to achieve good marks, as a high percentage will help you in entrance exams. The main exams accepted by most colleges are NATA and JEE, which test your knowledge in Math, Chemistry, and Physics. After taking these exams, wait for your results and apply to colleges based on your scores. Check previous years' cutoff ranks to guide your choices during counseling.

You want to steady hard and be good in math, chemistry and physics. You will needs a high GPA. Practice and pass entrance exams NATA or JEE main paper 2. Architecture programs are usually 5 yr bachelor. Some schools to consider is B. Arch or top-teir government funded programs like IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, SPA Delhi or NIT Calicut. Do your research online for entry in India because I am in a different country, I cannot guarantee 100% how the process there works. Good luck on your career path and never stop seeking to fulfill your dream.

Hi Paavni, I took the AIEEE BArch exam (The Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE-Main), formerly All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE)) and ranked 9th. I got into Delhi Public University for their BArch program. However, I chose a different path and became a cloud architect. If you're truly interested in architecture, you should prepare for the BArch entrance exam. Being from Delhi, DPU could be a good fit for you. Best of luck!

I’ll share the steps that I recommend for applying for architecture in Delhi as per my application experience:
1. Fill in forms for NATA, JEE & Jamia at the earliest.
2. Pick up Arihant‘s B.Arch preparation book.
3. Dont worry about preparation timelines and go through the Mock question paper. The question papers are really fun to give as they are mostly about Problem solving!
4. Give the Exams :)
Other points to note:
A. I completed my Architecture degree about 11yrs back but the above advice should hold true.
B. NATA, AIEEE & JEE cover your Scores for applying to other States as well. AIEEE gave me options to join NIT Institutes from other states as well.
C. Applying to other states separately such as Maharashtra used to require filling their forms as well. I didn’t proceed with this as I realised there is Limited Quota for people from other states. Dont think this is required unless you want to apply to a specific College. Advise you to cross check from their respective Websites.
D. I have come to understand that later norms allowed for Students from Commerce background but with Maths can also pursue Architecture. I would advise to check with the CoA (Council of Architecture) either online, phone or visiting their Office at the Habitat centre if relevant to you. If you have Physics, Chemistry & Maths this won’t be required.
