Hi k,

This a broad question with a lot of different ways to look at it. Money is very important as far as it helps you achieve the goals that you have. Some people make money the goal which means they will never actually achieve it.

Regarding spending a lot of money on schools, it can be really hard to know. Spending a lot of money (likely going into debt) is good as long as you feel it will pay off more in the future. Are you going to school with an idea of a plan, or going because you feel like you should?

Do you know what areas want to study at this point? Its okay if you don't, I changed majors several times in college based on what I found I was good at, interested in, and had available to me.

Once you find an interesting path, there may be several ways to get into that path that may not cost as much money. There are also different options, like scholarships external to schools, that may be available to you for funding.

Things are changing so fast right now, it is hard to see what the opportunities will be like even in 5 years. However, if you're doing your best, connecting and helping others, and working to always be learning, you'll put yourself on the best track for the future and adjusting to changes now and later.

Money definitely matters right now, especially with how expensive everything has become. But spending a lot of money on school isn’t always the best move. Education can still be a great investment, but what matters most is choosing a path that gives you useful skills without taking on more debt than you can manage. A lower‑cost school, community college, or transfer path can lead to the same outcomes as an expensive one so focus on value, not price.
