How much is it worth to get a nice dorm ?
For reference, it's $2600 more per year to get a double in a nicer dorm (AC, better common areas, more aesthetic, recently remodeled). The other option seems fine but the heating/AC is messed up.

Before I give my advice, I would like to preface I do not attend college, but I have recently been apartment hunting and have run into similar issues regarding AC/ heating. I think it would be best to take into consideration how important AC is to you and where it is your attending college and the weather there, if it is typically hot and AC might be something to think about more than if it was a cooler area where you're less likely to need one; there is also window units if your college or University allows it that could give you a cheaper option. Another thing to consider is your financial situation, if you are able to afford the extra $2600 more a year and still be able to afford necessities it could be a good investment especially if you see yourself staying in that dorm or the common area a lot. I'm not sure if the college or university your attending has this or if you have already looked but some do have online platforms that have reviews on dorms, you could try looking at those and comparing the two dorms based off what people say and your non-negotiables for your living space.

It really depends on what matters most to you, like having AC or nice common areas, and what your budget looks like. If having AC helps you sleep better and the common areas make it easier to hang out with others, then going for the pricier dorm might be worth it, especially if you can afford it or plan to get a part-time job. But if you’re okay without AC, you might want to choose the cheaper dorm and save the money for something else.
