How can I find finance summer internships in my area?
I will be starting school this summer at Purdue University majoring in finance. I have heard that I will need to begin looking for a summer internship for 2027 almost immediately. How can I get started? Is finding one near my home feasible or should I be prepared to work in another city or state?

Hi Amelia,
I hope all is well! This is a great question! The best way to find summer internships is to start early because many finance firms recruit months in advance. Definitely use your campus resources, Handshake, LinkedIn, and company career pages to search and apply but don’t rely only on job postings. Networking is just as important, so reach out to alumni, attend career fairs, and connect with people working in roles you are interested in.
You can definitely find internships near your home and some roles may even be remote. Some other competitive opportunities may be in other cities such as Chicago or New York so being open to other cities can expand your options. The key is to start building your resume early, apply consistently, and network actively so you can maximize your opportunities.
I hope this helps you on your journey and please reach out with any additional questions. Hope to talk soon!
Thank you,
Dwight
