What tips would you give a public horticulture major when trying to find a job in the field?

1. Identify activities you enjoy and make you happy. Do they happen alone or with others?
2. Stay open to new opportunities.
3. Decide if you need to live in a specific place or if you're open to moving for a job.
4. Choose between staying in academia or working in an industry. If you choose industry, decide if you want to work for a company or yourself.
5. Picture your ideal job. If it exists, find someone who does it and ask if you can learn from them. Consider shadowing or apprenticing. If it doesn't exist, think about creating it.
6. Remember, it's okay to change your plans.
7. Understand that your job doesn't have to be your passion. If you can't work in your favorite field, keep it part of your life in other ways. Balance is important.
