To choose the right university or college, it's important to know what you want and research what each school offers. Consider these questions before making a decision: Do you prefer a big or small college? Does the college have the resources you need and is it a good fit for your major? Is it financially worth it? What makes this college special compared to others? Knowing what you want can help narrow down your options and make your decision easier. For NYU, ask yourself if you can see yourself there for four years and if you'd enjoy the location. Watching videos on TikTok or YouTube from current or former students can give you a feel for campus life. If possible, visit the campus too. Good luck with your decision!

Hi there,

Wondering how to know if a university is the right fit? Here’s a simple guide to help you decide:

1. Can you afford it?
2. Does it offer your major and real opportunities in that field?
3. Do you like the campus and lifestyle?
4. Can you realistically get accepted?
5. Can you see yourself being happy there for four years?

NYU could be a great choice if you enjoy city life, can handle the cost, and are ready for a competitive admissions process. It's a fantastic option for those interested in English, journalism, writing, theatre, and creative fields. However, make sure it's not your only plan. Create a college scorecard to compare NYU with other schools based on cost, opportunities, location, campus vibe, and admission chances. This will help you find the best fit for you.

Semiloore gave a good answer. To add on to that, NYU is a pretty competitive school to get into. There are many people that apply to the school every year and you will need good grades and high SAT scores and at least one to two teacher recommendations (it might depend on the program you are applying to).

Hi Ariana,

I hope you're doing great!

As an NYU alum, I loved my time there. The people, professors, and culture are amazing. If you're thinking about applying, I highly recommend it. While getting into NYU can be tough, don't let that discourage you. If you're still in high school, focus on keeping your grades up, doing well on tests such as SAT, and getting involved in school activities. Remember, there are many opportunities to apply to NYU or other schools later as well, whether through transferring or for graduate studies. Wishing you the best of luck!
