Asma;
I never pictured myself as a Telecommunications engineer at your age. I really struggled with what subjects to take in college and where my future was headed. The U.S. Navy gave me direction. The ASVAB provided where I had aptitude to me and the recruiter and the rest is history.
My first duty station after training was a eye opener. My chief told me I wasn't just responsible for the equipment that I was trained on but for every piece of equipment in the communications center. My most challenging and stressful was when the Air to Ground communications system went down right before a critical mission during the Gulf War. Having only 12 hours to determine what the problem was before they command had to make a decision to scrub the mission. Then having the confidence to know that my fix would hold during the mission. It was all successful.
Now working for a major telecommunications corporation, every day brings a new challenge. That is what I love most about being an engineer there is always a challenge around the next corner. Yes sometimes it is overwhelming, but once I calm the fear of change and focus on what the objective is, I love digging into the interworking of systems.
My current challenge is the integration of AI applications into the daily operations. So I do encourage you to understand the AI tools that are emerging as any line of business is going to be integrating them into daily operations.

As a software engineer intern in college, the hardest part was learning the best ways to develop software. There are many paths to a solution, but it's important to find the most efficient and organized one. Luckily, there are great tools like AI and online forums to help you. The best part of starting your career is the opportunity to learn a lot, which makes the job exciting. If it's tough, it means you're growing. Don't get too comfortable; step out of your comfort zone to face new challenges. Ask for help early and take on new tasks to keep learning, even later in your career. Good luck on your career journey!
