I would say one of the issues to consider with Computer Tech is that you always have to be willing to deal with the troubles/errors/omissions. Codework is never really done and finished once and for all. A completed piece of code, once tested, accepted, deployed and placed into use/production will likely be revised, changed and enhanced once users put it into regular practice. It is a continuous process of learning, enhancing, fixing, improving to do something better, faster, cheaper and more efficiently. As long as you understand that going in, then the continuous design, development and deployment is going to be right up your alley. Also code release deployments typically take place at night, over weekends and holidays.

Knowing that most problems can be solved with a reboot, but only the computer tech seems to know that.  Haha  Computer technology is great and only getting better.  Great field to dedicate your career to.

Brad’s Answer

The least liked part about having a career in Computer Tech is being on call. Depending on your responsibility, you may be required to respond to problems 24 x 7. Generally, you won't be required to work around the clock. But if a serious problem comes up at 2 AM for a system you are responsible for, you may have to fix the problem immediately. Keep in mind, not all careers in IT have this responsibility. But depending on what type of systems you support, and your level of responsibility, it could be something you encounter.
