An HVAC Tech would be an admirable profession and as long as there is heat in Texas you are sure to be in demand. This is coming from someone whose AC went out just last night and is now looking at a $10k estimate to replace it.  I did a little digging and found that the average salary for the "Odessa location is $24.06 according to indeed.com (see link below for details), which is 7% above the national average.."  The top of the scale reaches $48.50. This is almost double the average so room for opportunity. 

Salary Range Avg ~ 50K. You can figure out the salary ranges based on a 40 hour work week. 40 hour a wk * 52wks in year = 2080 * $24.06 = $50,044.80.

According to Glassdoor, the salary starts average is $15 dollars per hour. It did not have Odessa, TX listed specifically, so this amount is listed for the San Antonio Texas area. After looking at some job openings in the Odessa, TX area there seems to be a big range. One job posting listed $19-$21 per hour; another listed up to $30 based on experience.
