Bruna’s Answer

Hey Dakota,
I was looking for the best universities in South Carolina,
I looked at this website: https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/sc which is know as a valuable reference for rankings in US
and the TOP 3 Uni for engineering are:
Clemson University - 70 in National Universities
University of South Carolina - 104 in National Universities
Furman University - 46 in National Liberal Arts Colleges

You can visit the website, in the area of study select engineering, and check all the options, you can also compare collages, see the tuition fee and others important things.

Hope this helps provide some ideas and inspiration! Best of luck.

Bruna recommends the following next steps:

Jack’s Answer

I would probably say Clemson, then on the other hand South Carolina isn't well known for top end schools. The state you are looking to leave (MA) is probably top 2 or 3, if not the best in the entire US for higher education, regardless of major. If you are truly looking to attend a top end engineering school in the south, I'd highly recommend Georgia Tech out in Atlanta. I believe its about 4 hours out from Columbia, SC.

Riley’s Answer

I just did some research on the best engineering programs in your state and found that the top two ranking universities are the University of South Carolina and Clemson University. However, if you are more interested in a private university the Bob Jones University also has a great program!

Riley recommends the following next steps:

Visit the websites of the schools that I suggested to see which one is most appealing to you!

I went to Furman in South Carolina. It is a great school (but expensive). It has more emphasis on liberal arts than engineering, so if you are looking for engineering, I would suggest Clemson if you want to stay in SC. Georgia Tech is one of the best engineering schools in the South (full disclosure here - I also attended Ga Tech).

Someone mentioned Bob Jones - when I visited the campus (in the 80's) to view an art exhibit, all the females were required to wear skirts just to visit the campus. If you are looking for a super-conservative religious school, this is your place.
