What are some good universities for a cello performance major?

Hi, I'm in high school and I would like to major in cello performance in college and eventually make a career out of music. Does anyone know any schools that are especially good for this?
Thanks! #education #music #music-performance #orchestral-music #playing-cello

Hi! First, you must know if you are willing to relocate to another city/state. Once you have that issue clear in your mind, then you either need to find out what music schools are in your area or research schools nationally (or even internationally). Also, you need to know if you want to be a cello teacher, performer, play in an orchestra, or some/all of the above. Some schools will be better at helping you become a performer and others will help you become a teacher.

All the best!

Hi! I go to Berklee College Of Music, in Boston (MA), which just recently merged with the Boston Conservatory. They're both pretty good schools to go to if you're looking into making music your career. Berklee's genre is more pop/jazz/modern, while the Conservatory's classical. As other people were saying, it all depends if you are willing to move to another state, and which states you have in mind. There are good music schools in New York (NY) and Chicago (IL) as well. Let me know if you have a specific state or price range to stay within and I can give you more info about music schools :)

Best of luck with everything!
