Would it be better to apply to a college with a business or a premedical interest?

I know it is possible to switch majors, so is one of these options more desirable to a college in an applicant? #college #college-major #college-admissions #application

Christopher’s Answer

Hello Amy,

Being that business and premedical programs have very different coursework, it would be best to decide which you would prefer prior to entering college. While some of the prerequisite courses will overlap, some will not and you may find yourself taking extra courses if you decide to switch after you have already started.

Hi Amy!

It is best to be truthful and enter college with your true interest indicated and back up that interest with all positive related data available.

Katrina’s Answer

If you are trying to better position yourself to get into the college, you will want to research if one program is more competitive than the other. Sometimes you can be admitted to a college with a lower academic profile depending on the major. Perhaps it is easier to be admitted as a business major, but if you truly want to pursue medicine, it may be difficult to transfer into pre-med once you're in college.

I would reach out to current students at the college if you are able to. They may have good advice on how easy it is to transfer in.
