do you have to pay when applying for fafsa ?

when I applied for fafsa, I had to pay $78. I am not sure why I had to pay for it. I thought it was free... #government #federal-government

Thank you comment icon FAFSA does not require you to pay when applying for aid. You most likely had reached a spam website. Remember that anything offering you scholarships or financial aid should NOT require you to pay for anything! Gillian

The FAFSA is free. There are many websites that pop up when you search for FAFSA that may not actually be the FAFSA site. You might want to check to be sure it was the right site.
