I am glad to hear that you like commerce. Many different kinds of industries that needs the talent from commerce background, e.g. Trading companies, manufacturers, retail companies, large conglomerates, etc.
There are a wide range of industries that needs that skills. You can help to operate the companies, e.g. in supporting functions like Administration, Accounting, Finance, etc. Also, you can also help to manage the supply chain of these companies. It is more important on what industry you are interested in. You can explore more online.
When moving to a more senior position in your career, you may have the opportunities to lead a team or be a lead of projects. It's a good opportunity for you to demonstrate you leadership. However, there are a lot of knowledge and skills in management . I would recommend you to take some management courses to advance your skill at that time.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

The answer is "almost anything"!! Commerce really is just addressing a need in return for compensation. That need can be a service (such as healthcare like a prior response mentioned) or goods (such as food, electronic gadgets, etc. The beauty is that the range of what constitutes commerce is so wide, that you can certainly find an area that interests you. It is important to have a passion for what you do, if you want to be truly successful.

You brought leadership into the question, and that's important, too. Some commerce is a solo affair, like owning a small local shop, and there leadership may not be as important. That said, the overwhelming majority of businesses involve multiple people, and there leadership becomes important. There are a few ways to become a good leader. You can read books on leadership, learn through trial and error, or even just be observant: what do great leaders have in common? What are some of the things I see them do consistently.

Many people have a mind for commerce, but no leadership skills, so your combination of both will surely take you very far!

Hi Katlego,

I think you are onto something with the combination of commerce, business and leadership. As a leadership major in college, I can definitely say these three fields are well connected and always changing. Commerce will always involve business which will always involve leadership in one capacity or another. From my experience, one specific industry within commerce that is particularly interesting is healthcare. Healthcare is such an incredible combination of commerce, business, science and leadership. Healthcare all over the world, especially during the pandemic, is such an exciting field to be in and study. The healthcare industry needs people from all backgrounds to help solve some of its biggest issues so no matter your background, interest or major, healthcare is a great example of what you can do while combining your passions for commerce and leadership. Hope this helps!

Best,
Quinn M.
