I'm echoing what many other volunteers have provided in terms of guidance of how to volunteer. In some ways, volunteering during the COVID-19 era has opened new opportunities to volunteer close to home or far away across borders. There are a number of creative ways to volunteer, whether you collect goods/items at home to donate locally, or choose to put your language or technical skills to work by volunteering virtually. One fun way to volunteer virtually is with Zooniverse (https://www.zooniverse.org/) --it's a crowd sourced platform where anyone can help scientists and researchers classify slides and images to help advance a variety of fields from biology, history, and oceanography --to name just a few. It's interactive and very fun. I recommend it! It's terrific you have an interest to make an impact and volunteer, that's wonderful.
Good luck with your volunteering experience. This is a great first step in the essential leadership qualities demanded of our modern workforce.
