Eric’s Answer

Orthodontists are generally well paid. Much time is spent in treatment planning of complex cases. Orthodontists are very involved with orthognatic surgeries. A relationship between the oral surgeon and the orthodontist is essential. It is important understand that an orthodontic career demands four years of college, four years of dental school and two years of orthodontists school. Currently this cost is at least $500K, and probably more. Know that you will have no income until age 28-30. A big investment in education.

You'll have to weigh out the cost of dental/orthodontic school as well as that can come with significant costs and student loans with interest, but they make a very good wage with rather limited and flexible hours usually.
