What steps do you recommend I use to prepare myself for the culinary career ?

To prepare yourself for a culinary career, the first thing I would do is get a job in a kitchen. The best culinary professionals I know started out as dishwashers and prep cooks. Learning the basics of how a kitchen works begins with surrounding yourself with experienced people and getting to see the day to day routines they all endure. Learning basics like working at a fast pace, being organized, knife skills, portioning, proper storage, and more, all begin with these entry level kitchen jobs.

Before you begin your culinary career, you can prepare with a few things. First, I would recommend getting a job as a chef/assistant chef in a restaurant to learn a few things in the kitchen such as knife skills, certain cooking skills, etc. Second, you can purchase books on technical skills chefs require and read up/practice at home. For example, different knives, what they are used for and how they are used. These will hopefully help you make your path much more clear. Best of luck!

Before you start a culinary program, that may have cost a lot, try seeking classes online , your local YMCA or recreation centers. You may also consider a job in a restaurant environment to get hands-on training. I also read my cookbooks like novels. I especially love the Flavor Bible, Ripe Fig, and the Food Lab. These books can be found at your local library or if you are lucky at a Half Price Bookstore near you.

Immediate choose a career in Culinary art because of the introduction of 5 star hotels and resorts in Bay and Gulf areas worldover so the demand is huge of culunary professionals. So immediately join culinary course .
