Hi Merlina! Internships are always useful when it comes to paving one's way for one's future career. Having said this, I think you need to determine what type of work you will do in the future and your internships should be done considering your future career. They will equip you with more experiences with will make it easy for you as you become a professional. Know that you should love your work and be determined to make it.

Internships in a field ofyour choice (i.e., mental health care) also gives you an opportunity to VERIFY your interest in the area.
Most high school students might be enamored WITH THE IDEA of a career in certain areas, without having experienced any aspects of it first-hand. If you work as an intern in a given area, even if only for a 3-months period of time, you will have a better understanding of the type of job you could do in that area in the future; or, at times, it gives you an incentive to change careers!

Knowing that I was interested in Accounting/Finance, I sought an internship with a company in my district that focused on inventory accounting.
