The way you get promoted in any job is by your abilities and going beyond the expected. Looking for little things that make your performance different than the usual. Being willing to learn new things. Most people just do their job, but you need to do a little extra. I took things that others didn't want to learn or do, and owned them, became the expert. I worked without complaint and did what was asked and a little more. I looked for things that I could improve or provided better info for. I became the expert that everyone was asking. I also shared what I learned with others. Get to know your leadership so they are paying attention to you. Don't be annoying, just be attentive, and try to think ahead, so that your doing before they even ask.

All this things will prepare you and teach you what you need to know to move up in a company. They are looking for dedication, hard work, ability and knowledge. If you show you have them, and common sense, you will be a prime candidate when promotions come. Also sometimes, in order to get promoted you have to change jobs, so pay attention to that as well. Finally be dependable!!! On time and ready to go, be prepared with tools you need, and take care of the company tools, so they are in good condition and ready to go as well.
