A benefit of interior design is there are no mandatory prerequisites. I have known people starting by taking a position in sales for a furniture company, and then becoming an in-house designer for customers, and then moving to their own business. Because there is artistry in the profession, your income would be dependent on how many customers valued your ideas. If this interests you, it is a career with possibilities that could be explored over a short period to see if you like it.
