Good careers or internships for Management Information Systems major?
I am a second year college student who is about to begin my studies in Management Information Systems. However, I am unsure of the available career or internship options available in the field for this kind of major. Any suggestions?

Interesting question. From my own background, I suggest submitting letters to chief information officers for companies in your area, emphasizing that you're a student with a major in information systems and that you're seeking a summer internship in the department. Provide details on what you have done and what topics interest you. This is often an unplanned internship, and the letter may introduce interest in bringing you in. Companies benefit from using internships, as it is an opportunity to get first-hand experience with a future potential employee. Take the initiative here and pursue it. Be sure to get the exact name and title of the recipient. All the best in your pursuits.

This is a great question, there is definitely a need for people with an MIS degree in an ever growing technical world. To find opportunities in your area, you should definitely check with some of your professors and your Universities Career Office. I am in my current role because of a referral from one of my former professors. However, do not leave it up to just those two options. A quick internet search, shows several opportunities in your area, so you need to apply to every one that you think might be interesting, with the expectation that many of them will not even respond. Looking for a job without a referral is always a challenge. Keep pushing forward knowing that as long as you keep trying you will eventually find the right fit for you.

Hi there, a lot of companies offer internships so you can try before you buy :-)
Even better, companies like Verizon have paid internships so for your summer break you can work in the field and decide for yourself if this field is something you might want to work in. A lot of different directions to go in an international company. Be open to the different and werid.
