Would a job in epidemiology be a good career?

Yes Epidemiology is an area that's received an increase in public demand the last few years. It's also expected to grow in employment by 26% over the next ten years according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. (https://tinyurl.com/publichealth-epi)

Plus... because we just experienced Covid, more people are interested in preventing highly widespread diseases. 😄

The funding for public health programs may fluctuate yet increase overtime (which may effect the type of work available) but there's more opportunities coming soon.

The benefits and disadvantages for epidemiologists depends on their personality, purpose, and motivations for pursuing the field.

Some people may not enjoy analyzing data, or being around diseases. Some people enjoy math and solving problems to protect others in the world.
