In the long term, generally, you want to build a monologue portfolio. A dramatic monologue, a comedic monologue and a classic (i.e. Shakespeare, Chekov etc..). In the short term a lot of libraries will have collections of one-act plays which are great sources to find references from, outside of the 10 audition pieces that everyone googles. The trick is to find a monologue that resonates with you.
