Hello Sadie. The work-life balance of a travel nurse is one of the best you can find out there in the nursing world. You can typically choose your own schedule with each contract. I found it best to do a 3 day work schedule and then off for the remaining 4 days of the week. The 4 days off gives you a chance to explore the city/surrounding area that you are currently in. A typical contract also lasts 13 weeks, so there is not a lot of constant traveling involved. Travel to your destination, stay and complete 13 weeks, then travel back home or on to the next destination. The best part is that you are in charge of when you want to take a contract and this enables you to work only when you want. When working as a travel nurse, I would typically take 4 months off per year. Excellent work-life balance is one of the greatest appeals of travel nursing.

It is also not overly stressful as long as you choose hospitals/units with good reputations.
