My wife did this type of work for a while. You can start buy offering to watch the children of people you know for date nights or after school. This can allow you to get experience, make a little money and build up some references.

The more skills you have, the more valuable you will be to a family. Do you know CPR, have first aid experience, the ability to prepare meals, etc.

You can round out your experience with taking a couple classes at a local Junior College on early childhood development. There are numerous website your can advertise your services or use good old word of mouth and referrals.

Keyston’s Answer

It's great that you're interested in becoming a full-time nanny. To get started, you might want to gain some experience by taking up part-time or temporary nanny positions. This can help you build your skills and confidence. Since my wife used to nanny before starting her business, she found that networking with families, attending local childcare events, and creating a strong online presence through platforms like Care.com or Sittercity can also be helpful in finding nanny opportunities. Remember, sometimes unexpected paths lead to fulfilling careers. Good luck!
