What type of scholarships should I look at Since I want to be a veterinarian?
If someone wants to be a veterinarian I think they should go to NC State.

-The first thing you want to do is apply early for financial aid with FAFSA (studentaid.gov).
-Once you have chosen which university you plan to attend, go to their website or contact the financial aid office to locate the scholarship
application. Typically many colleges have a general application that will put you in the running for any campus scholarships (merit or need
based).
- If you are involved in any community groups, churches, local vet offices reach out to see if they have any available scholarships for you.
-Some states have 2+2 programs which means you get to go to a 2 year community college for free or discounted before you enroll in a 4
year university.
Keep asking questions. Use your network. Colleges have professionals on campus that are happy to help you answer these questions when you get there!

First get involve with the animal shelter as a volunteer. Send an email to the School of veterinarian at NC State saying that you are interest in the field and would like to volunteer or any school that has the program. If possible, create you a small business in which you walk dogs, bathe different animals, or pet sit for family, friends or neighbors. Reach out to animal hospitals or veterinarians in your area to see if they need volunteers as well. Check out this site for volunteer options....volunteermatch.org. Once you have gained work experience and/or become a junior in high school I would begin applying for scholarships. Any and all scholarships. As many as you can. So many scholarships go unclaimed annually apply, apply, apply. Here are a few sites; scholarships.com, fastweb, niche are a few. Hey Tamara! Great question. There are a few ways to think about this. First, start with undergrad, which degree/school will make sure you are best prepared for Veterinarian School and fits you! Then you can think about scholarships for undergrad so you could graduate will little to no debt. Undergrad scholarships are available for a variety of reasons: merit, major, location, demographic, etc.! Next, when you think about Vet Schools, some schools have scholarships available based on financial aid and merit. Then there are national scholarships from various orgs (here are a few NC State lists: https://cvm.ncsu.edu/academics/admissions/costs/external-scholarship-opportunities/). When thinking about financing your education, take it one step at a time, doing your best now so you are in the best place for the next stage.
