My university is more likely to offer internship opportunities from the second year. What are some skills that I should develop right now so that I can get internships from prominent companies / FAANG while majoring in electrical engineering? I have no prior experience in doing internships

Hi Lazarus, good job for being so on top of things this early in your career! To start building your resume at this stage, there are a few good options from my experience. First, try and see if there are clubs or organizations on campus that do any sort of coding and electrical engineering. This allows you to work on real life projects that you could add to your resume. Second, you can pursue similar projects at your own time, which can also be added to your resume. Third, if your university is a research university, you can pursue doing research as a freshman/sophomore to gain more experience. Your university may have a portal with all available research opportunities, or you could ask your professors directly. Finally, I would try to connect with upperclassmen in your major that have similar jobs you want! They may be even more familiar with what is available at your u over with, as well as what is most useful to get the internship. You can also talk with recent grads from your university (searched through LinkedIn) that have full-time jobs you would be interested in. Good luck!
