Each program varies. There are some that are as quick as 18 months for accelerated programs and some as long as 4 years! You generally need to take prerequisites as well such as chemistry, anatomy & physiology etc. so you should factor that with into your timeline.

Hello! I appreciate your enthusiasm. There are several routes you can follow to become a Respiratory Therapist. You can opt for a trade school, a community college, or a University to earn a 4-year degree in Respiratory care. Each route has its own advantages and disadvantages. It's important to consider your budget and financial aid options. Aim for becoming a Registered Respiratory Therapist, don't settle for just the Certified level, as being Registered provides more opportunities. Once you've chosen your school, dive in wholeheartedly. The profession offers various paths and the pay is quite decent, especially considering that the minimum requirement is an AS degree. If you have more specific queries, don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you!

Hello,

First step you would want to research programs in your areas for Respiratory Therapy programs. Most programs are either 2-4 years in length and give you the ability to gain a degree in Respiratory care. With that, you can choose to become a registered respiratory therapist or a certified respiratory therapist. I have worked with my Registered Respiratory Therapists and you have more opportunities for jobs as well as finances.

I wish you the best of luck on your path :)
