I’m about to be a college freshman and starting my degree in the medical field. Ive never truly studied and I know that studying habits will need to be adjusted so i am able to pass my classes with ease.
What is the day in the life of a pediatric physician? What if you are in the room with a patient who has stridor in their tracheal area as a respiratory therapist?
Do you leave the room and get assistance, or do you stay with the patient and yell for help or activate a rapid response? I was thinking that you stay with the patient and use the medical phone to call for help.

I come from south central, a low income community and raised by a single mother who early on showed me the true meaning of resilience. I started pursuing college but just like the rest of the world my plans were disrupted by Covid. shortly after I became pregnant and later became a military spouse. constant transitions have made it difficult to maintain a stable job. Despite these challenges I want to continue my education to create stability for myself and family while becoming yet another example and strong resilient woman for myself and my son. I am currently trying to navigate how to stay on track on my educational aspirations and short/term long term goals while managing financial balancing and no support from family.
What are some helpful tips for better bedside manner?
I'm currently a freshman Health Science major (Respiratory Therapy Concentration); Since I have never worked a job based in the hospital, I am a little nervous for when I start the program and eventually clinicals. What are some tips that can help me build confidence and develop good bedside manner as I prepare to work with patients.

Choosing the right major :(
I'm currently having a crisis about choosing a college major. I'm a 30-year-old female who moved to the United States 7 years ago, and English is my second language. I work full-time at a large hospital as a transporter, and prior to that, I worked as a patient care technician with a CNA certification. My gpa is 3.9. I'm afraid I will choose the wrong major and also really tired about thinking about it. I'm torn between three majors: respiratory care, nursing, and radiologic technology. While working as a patient care tech, I realized that nursing is a very stressful job, and I kind of gave up on pursuing it. However, I know that it comes with decent salary that's why I still think about it, but it is at the end of my list. I just applied to a Respiratory Care (BAS) program and got accepted. I like the idea of Respiratory Care because it offers more specialization than nursing, but I am not sure %100. Radiologic Technology is also great option, but the rumors of AI potentially replacing the jobs in the field makes me think twice. Also, I sometimes feel very self-conscious about my accent. Since Radiologic Technology requires less direct patient interaction, it seems like a good option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
