What you need: To study aeronautical engineering, you need a real passion for the field, a good grasp of math and science, clear career goals, and strong potential.

How to get it: Start early by improving your problem-solving skills and gaining practical experience. Use virtual platforms like SimScale for simulations, OpenVSP for 3D aircraft design, and MERLOT for aerospace experiments. Join aviation, aeromodelling, or rocketry clubs, and work on projects like Arduino electronics, building drones, or designing small mechanical systems. Taking short courses in flight simulation, CAD software, or coding will also boost your skills and teamwork.

Why you will get admission: Good grades show you can handle the course's challenges, while your practical experience and club activities show your initiative and creativity. Clear career goals, like designing aircraft or contributing to aerospace innovations, highlight your dedication and make you a strong candidate for admission.

For admission into aeronautical engineering, you'll first start with identifying a matching school for this field and work backwards on what that school might require or recommend to have a strong application.

The path towards aeronautical engineering can also take many paths such as starting with a general engineering degree or mechanical engineering and from there specializing in the aeronautical/ aerospace. The experience and knowledge you gain along the way through courses or internships will help for getting the necessary information to do well in this field.

General tips that I have for having a strong application will be in participating in clubs or activities that give you some experience in engineering that can be called on as part of the application. For example, you could search for robotics team opportunities near you or things related to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art or math). If none are available near you, then you may search for online free modules using something like Bing Copilot to recommend opportunities to you.
