What is something you wish someone had explained to you about the college process when you were just starting out"?

I am a 16 year old sophomore at Spectrum Academy High School and have recently started really looking at colleges, which has made it all feel more real. During my junior and senior years in high school, I plan on also going to Davis Technical College for Business Administrative Services. I am asking this question because I am still confused about the processes required to go to college, and haven't received a clear answer from anyone I've asked.

Hey Lynnaea! One thing I wish someone had explained early on is that the college process is not about being perfect but about being prepared and true to yourself. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed at first because there are a lot of steps, but once you break it down into parts like researching schools, preparing for tests, applying for financial aid, and writing your essays, it becomes more manageable. Starting at Davis Technical College is a smart move and shows initiative that colleges will respect. Keep asking questions, take things one step at a time, and remember that there’s no one-size-fits-all path. You’re already ahead by thinking about your future now, and that motivation will take you far. Good luck!
Thank you comment icon Thanks Sneha! Your response really helped me, and I will definitely read it over again as my graduation gets closer. :) Lynnaea
