Why is college scary?
I am about to enter my freshman year of college. I register for classes this upcoming Saturday. I am scared I won't be able to make friends or be by myself away from home.

It's perfectly okay to feel this way! College can seem daunting because it's such a big change. We feel best when we're comfortable and in control, and college introduces a whole new world full of unknowns. But remember, many other students feel just like you, even if they don't show it. You don't need to have everything figured out immediately. Friendships can grow from simple moments, like sitting next to someone in class or joining a club you like.
Many of my friends found they could be more true to themselves in college than they ever could in high school. You have more freedom to discover who you are, what you love, and how you want to express yourself. Being away from home can be tough at first, but it's normal to feel homesick. Over time, you'll build routines, meet new friends, and create a new sense of home where you are.
You're stepping into an exciting new chapter! There might be challenges, and it's okay to feel scared, but there will also be amazing memories, learning, and self-discovery. You've got this!
