How do I know what career is right for me? #Spring25

I am a person with many interest and am terrified of being bored and making the wrong decision. I love psychology and criminal justice but I can’t imagine myself in the careers it produces though. Most careers feel repetitive and i want something i could apply my knowledge in without doing the same paperwork everyday. Any advice or experience on finding your career will be helpful. Thank you!

Hello Jazmin,
Be true to yourself and never give up! Follow your dreams! Let your unique qualities shine and demonstrate what you can do. Companies look for employees, but they truly want to understand who you are. Be there, be engaged.
Try to get internships; they will help you decide what you want to do in the future.
Hope it helps you.

Hi Jazmin,

Be sure to do research on the careers you are interested in. Ask your school counselors if your school uses any programs that help you search careers or take a career aptitude test.

The best way to see if a career is right for you is to test it out!

Try to do a job shadow, informal interview or visit to careers of interest to you. Talk to people in those careers!

See if you can volunteer or get a part-time job somewhere related to your interests in careers.

Try to get an internship even if it is early in college.

Take some high school courses in psychology and criminal justice as well.

I hope this helps!

Hello Jazmin,

Choosing the right career path can be challenging, but don't worry! The great thing is that you can always change and grow in your career as you go along. In just a few years, there might be exciting new jobs we haven't even imagined yet. It's a good idea to try different things and see where they lead you. Talk to people in your social network about their jobs and experiences. You might also find it helpful to reflect on these three questions: What do I love doing? What am I good at? What skills are important in today's world? You can also use an AI tool to explore what fields or jobs might suit you best. Keep your chin up—there are so many possibilities ahead!
