How do you balance school life and your outside life in your first year of college?

I feel like the first year is going to be very overwhelming and I'll go all in on one or the other, so how do you handle that balance?

Because you're asking this, I believe you'll be just fine because you're already so aware there is a balance!

You'll need to show yourself GRACE - understand in that first semester it will be nothing but 'adjusting.' You will try a schedule, it may not work, and that is okay. Adjust. Pivot. Be very aware to employ adaptability. You will get overwhelmed, and that is normal. But one day, it will all fall into place in terms of balance (but you may be more getting used to adapting!). My suggestions would be, create working hours, fun hours and homework hours. You'll need to stay true to these blocks of time. If you have a test or extra homework, you'll have to increase those nightly 'work' hours. And there will be nights that you may be able to delete the working hours altogether! BE SURE to adhere to your personal time more than anything. You are human being, not a human doing. And you need to take in all the fun and excitement and chaos that is your freshman year of college. You won't know it when you're living it, but college is some of the best times you'll ever have. So be sure to soak it in, make time for fun, exercise and school. That first year is all about adjusting, and you're going to do great!

Thank you for your question. This is a question about your time management. Firstly, you need to find a time management tool to help, eg Google Calendar, MS Outlook, phone calendar, etc
Below are my suggestions:
1. Put down the time you need to attend classes
2. Assign some time every day on your assignment, projects, etc. Review the material covered in the classes in the day
3. Make sure you have enough time to sleep and do some exercise
4. You can then allocate some time on weekends on your leisure and friends & family gathering
5. You may need to assign more time for revision before assessment
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
