How is Nursing school going from your expectations?
I'm a 2024 graduate. I took a gap year because I unsure if I wanted to do Nursing. I'm still unsure and kind of scare what to expect but I'm excited for what's to come.

Hey Grace!
I get why you’re feeling unsure about nursing school—it's a huge commitment and it’s normal to have some nerves, especially when you’ve had a gap year to think things through. Honestly, nursing school can be a mix of excitement and a bit of a shock at first.
It’s definitely not all what you expect—it’s tougher than you might think, but it's also super rewarding. You’ll get to learn a ton about medicine, human anatomy, and patient care, but it also comes with a lot of long hours studying, lots of practical experience, and emotional challenges. The workload is definitely no joke, and you'll probably be tested mentally and physically. But, trust me, it’s worth it when you see the difference you can make in someone's life.
The great part is, every day is different, and you’ll meet some incredible people along the way. You’ll get to connect with patients, work with other healthcare professionals, and really start to feel like you’re part of something important. And while it can be overwhelming at times, the sense of accomplishment and purpose you'll feel will keep you going. If you’re excited but still uncertain, you’re not alone, trust me, lots of people feel the same way. Just take it one step at a time, and remember why you’re interested in it in the first place. You’re going to grow so much through the process, and if nursing is your passion which you want to be dedicated on then I say go for it and don't worry so much because along the way you will learn so much to navigate all that fear.
Lemme just tell you Grace, I too have had gap years to find my path and I did plenty of shadowing and volunteering work that actually opened up for me. So if you are still unsure just try a little shadowing and you will see it in a greater propective.
And hey, whatever happens, it’s okay to change your mind. No pressure to have everything figured out right now. You've got this Grace but trust that firing feeling of yours, if you are hyped and excited then know you will be to the end. Good luck dear.
