Have you ever had a moment where you thought, ‘This is exactly why I became a nurse’? #Spring25
I want to hear any story! Good, bad, weird, funny. I personally want to become a nurse after taking care of my mother who passed away because of metastatic cancer. Being her "mini nurse" made me realize how much of a difference I could make. Although she was my favorite patient, there were definitely times where I questioned if I could do it or not.

There are so many stories to tell. Two I will never forget. The first one i had completed diabetic teaching with her about a year prior to this incident. We received a call stating she hadn't peed in 24 hrs. I went to her home to check on her and was totally appalled by what I found. The patient was in bed, her eyes were sunken in, fingertips black from tip of finger to 2nd knuckle and extreme SOB. Actually, she was struggling. So I called 911 praying the whole time she didn't go into respiratory arrest. She did survive but I was so mad at her daughters for not calling sooner. The one daughter was a CNA too.
I've worked mostly geriatrics but I did do a couple years in 4th and 5th grade with a special needs boy. We had a blast. As I said, so many memories. Never be afraid to laugh or cry when visiting someone. 🥰
