As a nurse or any healthcare professional, is it bittersweet when patients you've built good relationships with get better and leave, knowing you probably won't ever see them again? If so, how do you deal with it?

On a hospital tour with my high school's health science department, one of the nurses leading the tour said it was bittersweet to watch patients go. Is this something I should be concerned about experiencing as an aspiring nurse?

How can an undergraduate student prepare for a career in regulatory affairs, more specifically in the healthcare sector?

Hello, my name is Imani and I am a 19 year old college sophomore majoring in Public Affairs. Outside of my academics I like baking especially the specific order of operations needed to follow a recipe actually connects pretty well to my interest in surveying and auditing. I wanted to ask a few questions for anyone in regulatory affairs (specifically healthcare like quality assurance, or internal auditing and survey readiness for hospital/clinical accreditation.) The first question I have is are there specific classes or skills I should learn while still in school to prepare for entry level jobs in regulatory affairs? The second is do companies usually offer undergraduate internships focused on specifically medical regulatory affairs? And if so, what kind of roles should I look for? My last two questions are for any necessary credentials is it possible or smart to study for any of them while still in undergrad, or do I need post grad work/school experience first? And If you could go back to your sophomore year of college already knowing you wanted to go into healthcare regulatory affairs, what is the one thing you would have done? The reason I am asking these questions is to help me identify my academic goals, and to make sure I am targeting the correct professional standards of regulatory affairs.

How does it feel like to be a NICU nurse What are the good and bad parts of this job and how do you handle the bad parts of the job.?

Hello! I am a 8th grade student at Crane Middle School. I am interested in this because I enjoy learning about science and I’ve always wanted a job where I can help people through hard times. I think I would like this job because I would like helping parents when they need it and helping the babies get through hard times. I was wondering how many years of school it took you to get your degree? What is the main things you do in this job for example the tasks you need to do most days in this career? Is it hard to take care of the parents and help them with their children at the same time? Is this job good for people even if they get annoyed or overwhelmed easily? How do you stay calm and supportive when you have to give parents difficult news about their baby?

What are some ways I can put my Health Science degree to use?

I am a Health Science major at Georgia Southern University in my second year. Since Health Science alone is pretty broad, I'm trying to explore different career paths. I'm honestly bit sure what all is out there. If you work in health science, what is your specific career and what is one thing you wish you knew before you started?

Does having a job in healthcare while going through nursing school lead to burnout?

For some context, I've been a certified EMT for 3 years and I'm in my first semester of nursing school now. I left my EMT job for what I'll call a "tangentially-healthcare- related" job recently to work with my new schedule for nursing school. But I feel like I really don't like this new job. I feel like I'm losing skills, I haven't had a patient contact in a couple months, and I feel like I don't do anything; on top of the stress of working full-time while going to school nearly full-time. Do you think looking at PCT jobs at a hospital or clinic in the meantime is a good idea? I don't want to burn out from school or my job, but I don't think what I'm doing right now is good. Thank you for your opinions!

How can a high schooler get clinical experience ?

How should I contacting doctors/clinics I'm unfamiliar with for a shadowing opportunity, volunteering, etc. Are there any other ways I can get experience? Hospitals and clinics in my area don't usually allow high school shadowing, volunteering at hospitals is also hard to get because of the number of applicants.

How do I know if I have the stomach to be an RN/work in critical care?

I consider myself a person with strong tolerance to the sort of unsightly things you find in hospitals, but I know the ICU can be a place that tests anyone. What if I fully dedicate myself to becoming a nurse, only to realize I can't handle the gore?

Why should I stick to the medical field??

Why does it make sense—or not—for someone like me, who’s stronger in English and history and not really into math, to pursue a career in healthcare, specifically dermatology, even though science isn’t my strongest subject (but not my worst either)? How can I figure out if I’m making the right choice by going down the MD path, or if becoming a PA might be a better option for me?

How can I make sure I keep a my humanity when working in the ED?

Have you ever had a moment where you thought, ‘This is exactly why I became a nurse’? #Spring25

I want to hear any story! Good, bad, weird, funny. I personally want to become a nurse after taking care of my mother who passed away because of metastatic cancer. Being her "mini nurse" made me realize how much of a difference I could make. Although she was my favorite patient, there were definitely times where I questioned if I could do it or not.

Why is emotional intelligence just as important as clinical skills in nursing, and how can I start developing it now? #Spring25

I used to think nursing was all about knowing the right procedures, but the more I learn, the more I realize it's the emotional moments that define the job, the moments when a patient is terrified, a family feels hopeless, or a child just needs someone to hold their hand. Clinical skills can heal a body, but emotional intelligence can heal a heart. I don't want to walk into my career only half-prepared; I want to be ready for the human side of nursing, the side no textbook can teach. That’s why I’m asking this specific question because every patient deserves a nurse who sees them, not just their chart.
