What are some essential items for college that are specific for an engineering major?

I will be attending college for engineering in the fall and I want to get a jump start on purchasing the essential items for the up and coming semester.

Hi Trevor. And congratulations on taking on this awesome learning opportunity!!!

So the obvious stuff first. Of course you need books, and highlighters and a computer..all the given stuff.

But I am encouraging you to consider an essential item that you can't buy...as much as is possible...bring your curiosity. Having graduated with an engineering degree myself, I recall my classes being much more interesting when I could engage with my professors and ask questions not just about the topic but how the subject matter relates to real life.

Oftentimes, your level of curiosity can drive your level of success in your classes, especially if you are given semi open-ended projects. Sometimes you can learn more from projects that you have an interest in....vs studying words from a book for a standardized exam. Umm but don't forget to study for your exams :)
