Hi Makahni,
I agree with others: try to find common connections. Also, think about joining professional groups, taking part in online forums about your future field, and connecting with people on LinkedIn who work in the same area. By being open and reaching out, you'll make great connections. Keep going!

Hi Makahni -
One of the best books I ever read is 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carnegie. It includes very practical and useful advice on getting out of your comfort zone, relating with others in just about any situation, and building long-term connections. This book has absolutely helped me build an exceptionally strong network over 30+ years - I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to build relationships and expand their network. Good luck!

Hi there,
The best advice I have for this is find something you're passionate about and enjoy doing it and find others with the same interests. Join organizations or clubs and see if you can work your way up to taking on leadership opportunities in those. Volunteering can also be a great way to form connections - working towards a common goal with others is a great way to form bonds and have things to talk about naturally.

Hi Makahni!
Struggling to make connections can be difficult, especially when it is out of your comfort zone! One tip that I can give you, is when you meet someone new, find a common connection. You want to be able to relate to the other person, so finding something of common interest, or similar ideas and thoughts, will be helpful.
Being relatable is an easy way to make the other person feel comfortable as well!
And most importantly, always be yourself!

Hey Makahni,
My advice to you is to do some research into local clubs or even virtual ones in the field that you are interested in. This way you can get more exposure to people with similar interests or who possibly already have experience. I have made quite a few good connections from reaching out to people on LinkedIn who are in fields I am interested in and just asking questions. Most the time people will be open to giving you advice or answering your questions!

Seek connection in thigs that you — shared interests are the quickest way to meeting new people. Lead with empathy and humility and never resist a generous impulse. As long as you approach life that way, you'll have no issue finding people and places that will be with you for the long haul. Trust yourself — you've gotten this far. Pulling for you Makahni!
