What are some effective strategies for standing out when transferring from a community college to a top 4-year university?
I’m currently attending Lone Star College and planning to transfer to a 4-year university like Trinity University to major in Business. I’ve improved a lot academically (retaking and doing better in classes I previously struggled in), and I’m working on building a solid routine and resume. What are some effective strategies to stand out in my transfer application?

Hi Mishal! You're already making great decisions to enhance your chances of getting selected into a 4-year university. To further strengthen your application, consider adding volunteer hours to your resume. This can demonstrate your commitment and initiative. Additionally, for a business degree, showcasing your networking skills is crucial. Keep utilizing the resources around you to build and expand your network.

You've been working hard to boost your grades, and that's great! To help even more, try attending transfer events or info sessions if you can. You could also email someone in the business department.
When writing your application essay, be honest. Share why you want to transfer and what you've learned at community college and in life. Explain why you're interested in their school and what you hope to gain from it. Showing that you've researched the school and asking smart questions can really help. The more you find out why this school is a good match for you, the more you'll shine.
