Hi Grayson. You need to plan for your day-to-day expenses while attending school. Dorm room and school supplies often feel like one-time costs, but they can add up quickly. When you go shopping for your dorm room, you should focus on the essentials like a bed, storage, and a lamp. Avoid buying things that might seem useful but aren't necessary, like expensive decorations, fancy gadgets, or oversized furniture that takes up space and isn't practical. You need to check to see what your dorm already provides. You may not need to buy things like a microwave or fridge because those could be available in shared spaces.

When it comes to school supplies, try not to overdo it. It's tempting to buy all the latest, expensive supplies, but you really only need the basics. You don't need premium notebooks, fancy pens, or the latest planner. Simple, affordable options usually work just as well. One of the biggest expenses in college is textbooks, but there are ways to save on those too. You can often find used textbooks, rent them, or even get digital versions, all of which are much cheaper than buying new ones. Many schools also have copies of textbooks in the library that you can borrow for free.
