What kind of jobs should I look for if I want to work in the nursing field with babies or younger children?

Hello Zaira welcome to the world of nursing. I would say if you are already in a nursing program then best to ask in your nursing departments if they have opportunities having connections with clinical sites of doing externships. An externship is where a nursing student is paired with a nurse at the clinical site being their preceptor. The preceptor is basically a nurse mentor to show how they work in their setting and being an externship you get paid for working alongside your preceptor. I know doing externships can be an advantage especially if you do one at a site where you want to specialized (in for your case working with the neonates and/or children).
Sometimes there may not be an opportunity of an externship in your area so another way to get your foot in the door is to volunteer a couple of hours a week of your time. It may not be direct patient care, but you can be part of the clinical site and when it comes to applying to jobs after you graduate, you can put down in your resume that you volunteered at said clinical site.
Best of luck to you Zaira you will do well just believe in yourself and put in the time and hardwork to reach your goals :)
