As a high school senior who is ambitious to become a medical doctor, what are good ways to prepare me to go to medical school?

Ever since I was 5 years old, it has been my dream to become a pediatrician. Now that I am a senior, I want to know the tips and tricks to prepare me to go to medical school. I am already in HOSA, and I do the EMT program here at my high school, but I feel like that is not enough

Hi Britney,

I'd suggest volunteering at your local hospital. This will give you a better idea of what physicians do every day, will look good on your applications, and give you a chance to help your community. Most hospital have an established program for people in your situation. You can try with your personal pediatrician, but usually offices are not set up for this, and their time demands are great and don't want to be slowed down.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

Hi Britney. Have you talked to your personal doctor? They know a lot and can give you helpful advice about the medical field. They might even invite you to visit their office to see what a day is like. People in medicine, like doctors and nurses, love what they do and are usually happy to help you out.
