With an associate's degree in graphic design, you can qualify for many entry-level desk jobs. Consider positions like junior graphic designer, production artist, marketing assistant, social media assistant, or print/prepress assistant. These roles focus on computer work, and companies often value your portfolio and software skills more than your specific degree. Small businesses, print shops, nonprofits, and in-house marketing teams are typically more open to hiring someone with an associate's degree than large agencies.

There are also jobs that don't require a degree and offer on-the-job training, such as customer support (especially via email or chat), data entry, administrative assistant, coordinator, scheduler, or operations assistant. These roles seek reliable, organized individuals who are comfortable using a computer. Your background in graphic design is an asset here, as it shows you can learn software, pay attention to detail, and work independently.

Instead of focusing only on job titles, read job descriptions carefully. If a job is listed as entry-level, offers training, or accepts equivalent experience, apply. Don’t underestimate your experience, even if it’s from working in a deli. It shows strong work ethic and customer service skills, which employers value. Combine this with your design skills, and you have a solid case for transitioning to a desk job.
