Joshua,
My suggestion is that you take time to research engineering as a profession and understand what it truly takes to become an engineer. Reflect carefully on whether this is a path you genuinely want to pursue. Once you are confident in your interest, review the courses required and available to earn a degree in Geological Engineering.
It is especially important to ensure that you are comfortable with mathematics and the core science subjects, as these are essential for success in this field. Ask yourself key questions: Why do I want to study engineering? What aspects of engineering genuinely interest me?
Beyond academics, gaining hands-on experience is critical. Make an effort to step outside the classroom—seek internships, volunteer opportunities, and practical field experiences whenever possible. Additionally, focus on developing strong social, leadership, and teamwork skills, as these are highly valued in the engineering profession. Cultivate good habits, stay curious, and broaden your perspective by learning about opportunities and challenges beyond your local environment.
I wish you much success!
