To prepare for a career in animal care, focus on science and math classes. Take biology, chemistry, anatomy, physics, and advanced math like algebra or calculus. If available, enroll in animal science, health, or agriculture courses. English and communication classes are also important, as you'll need to explain things clearly when working with animals and clients.
Get practical experience by volunteering at animal shelters, shadowing veterinarians, helping on farms, or working with local rescues. These activities will help you develop skills and demonstrate your commitment to colleges and vet schools.
