What would be the best job shadow to do if you are interested in math and science?
Hi! I'm lilly, and my school is hinting at us getting our job shadows done by the end of January, but they are not due until the end of my senior year. (I am a junior at the moment.) I was wondering what the most beneficial shadow would be, as I'm interested in math (nuclear, astronomy, and maybe coding and engineering.) What kind of job should I look for?
What is a "volunteer internship" And is it any less legit/effective than a position that is just called an "internship"??
Found a grants and fundraising position that's called a "volunteer internship". This confused me, since I have usually seen "volunteer" roles and "internship" roles as separate categories. So what's the difference between a "volunteer internship" and a normal "internship"? Would a "volunteer internship" mean less mentorship, not enough learning experience, etc.? Or, is the only difference between this "volunteer internship" and other normal "internships" that it's a nonprofit organization, and potentially unpaid (it was stated that "a small stipend may be available depending on future funding")? It still seems that I would get helpful experience through this role, since I have no grant writing experience. I also got a pretty quick response to my application (literally same day as I applied), and I only had to submit my resume. Both of these details made me wonder if this would lean more into the "volunteer" side than the "internship" side.
How should I advance my college resume interested in law as a freshman?
So I want to specialize in the law field, and currently part of Speech and Debate as well as Mock Trial. Some other trivial things are that I'm a part of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and Varsity Volleyball. How should I show college administrators that I have a passion for criminal law or just law in general? For example, contests I could participate in, essays I could write, what kind of research/non-profit, etc. Thanks!

How can I submit the best possible recommendation letters to colleges like UC Berkeley?
I have just received an email from UC Berkeley asking me for some recommendation letters. I'm not quite sure who to ask for those. I asked my internship supervisor, and she'll write me one. For the second one, I had this tecaher i had a good relationship with, but she retired and just has a regular email, not the SFUSD email. Does it matter that I send this request for the letter even though she doesn't have a school email? Will college admission officers see this wierd?

I'm going to college next year and I'm not exactly sure what I want to do in the future, I know I want to be some type of engineer and possibly minor in physics. I'm debating whether or not I need to go to a well known expensive school or settle for a less known but affordable one.

What is something I should know that would give me an edge compared to other starting engineering students?
I am turning 18 years old on December 10th, and I am a senior in high school. I plan to go to college and earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am avid when it comes to my education. I have a 4.0 GPA and I am ranked 6th in my class of 394, but none of that is to brag—it is simply to show I am dedicated and that I care about my education. I wanted to ask this question because I do not want to be clueless when entering college. I am the kind of person who wants to be ahead of the game and able to help others around me. I am also asking because I know there are smarter, more experienced people who can give me access to things they wish they had known as upcoming engineers. Asking questions similar to this before, I heard about familiarizing yourself with modeling software before entering college and getting a high-powered computer; however, I do not know if I can financially. Also, I would like to thank the people who reply. Your time, effort, and advice will be greatly appreciated. I can't wait!
