If I'm attending a university through an online program and I'm interested in working in higher education (i.e. in the admissions office), how do I get relevant work experience?

I'm currently attending Southern New Hampshire University online, and I've realized that college or university campuses are the right environment for me; I'm unsure how to get the right kind of experience, as working for a different university or college seems contradictory (and most of the job postings require 1-2 years' experience anyway). EDIT: Here is some additional context. I am 29, and going back to school, currently pursuing a BS of Computer Science; I have a year's work experience in the tech industry, and am considering the shift due to the last half decade's trajectory for the industry. I am not currently in a position to attend university in person.

Where do I go from here?

I am not a student, technically speaking, but rather a mid-life professional seeking more of a specific direction with my career. In brief, I obtained an international PhD in a field related to the humanities and published my research as a monograph. However, after approximately five years of applying for teaching positions I was not able to obtain a position beyond an adjunct role teaching online for low pay at two schools. I currently hold two-part time jobs: both of them recently passed me up for promotions, and one has just started laying people off (I'm feeling quite vulnerable in that regard). Aside from the pursuit of higher education, I've honestly been 'lost' as far as what other direction might be worth pursuing in which I would thrive. I am not even sure what questions to ask, but I would certainly appreciate any thoughts, advice, willingness to make new contacts, or any other assistance that you might deem valuable. It will be much appreciated. Thank you!

How to I get the Stamps President's Scholarship from Georgia Tech?

Hi, I am a sophomore in high school and I'm determined to receive the the Stamps President's Scholarship from Georgia Tech especially because I want to go to medical school after (I want to be an Emergency Medicine Physician) so I want to have as little debt as possible. I have straight A's, am on track to take the hardest classes, participate in cross country and track, which I received a coach's award in last year, am currently in process of working on my girl scout gold award, my goal being to push for increase in minimum wage and support medical needs of the unhoused, I am in HOSA and Women in Medicine leadership this year, I am in key club, this past summer I was in a shadowing program at a hospital where I also presented an official research project about oral health in the unhoused (I surveyed these people to get my data). I plan to keep doing this program. I am in orchestra. I help my brother, who is on the autism spectrum and needs extra support, basically in most of my free time. I know this Scholarship is practically impossible to get. I am so determined to get there. Stamps President's Scholarship alumni (specifically from georgia tech if possible), or other professionals, please give me advice for how I can make my dream a reality. I have read everything on the website and know how it works but I just want to know if someone can give me specific advice.

If you could redo life, what would you do differently?

I've been thinking a lot about decisions, how one small choice can change the entire direction of your life or career. Sometimes it's a job we didn't take, a subject we didn't study, a passion we pushed aside, or even a person we stopped having a relationship with. Not asking for regrets, just real moments of reflection.

What would you do for a living if money wasn't a factor?

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. So much of our career choices are shaped by survival, not passion. We all have that childhood dream to help the needy and now, somehow, most of us are the needy. But if money wasn’t a factor, no pressure, no bills, no expectations. What would we really choose? Would we still do what we do now? Or would we create, teach, build, explore, heal, write, or help in ways we have buried for years? I’m genuinely curious. What would you do for a living if money didn’t matter?

How do I prepare for grad school while in undergrad?

What kinds of things should I be doing in college to prepare myself for graduate school? I am a senior in high school currently. I am going to Grove City College next year for a science degree. I am planning to go to graduate school for entomology in the future. I do not know much about the process to get into grad school, but I do know some programs can be competitive. Should I join certain clubs in college or reach out to schools now? Any advice would be helpful. Also, if you have any tips for pursuing higher education, they would be very appreciated. Thank you! :)
