Hi Mia!

I think if you are focused on doing well in your other classes and getting good grades in those, it can help to sort of even out the lower grades in Math and Science. If you're able to, getting a tutor could be helpful. I'd also recommend expanding on things outside of your classwork that could make you stand out as an applicant, like volunteering, doing sports, or other extracurriculars that could help you kind of boost your application.

Hope this helps and good luck!

The definition of a good college or university depends on your financial situation, geographic consideration, academic as well as future professional goals. You should consider all these factors for your choice of “good” college or university.

Based on your given information, you will probably major in liberal arts in college, where weakness in mathematics and science would not be an obstacle. Hence, it is imperative that you concentrate your academic effort in nurturing your academic strength, the area(s) that you can excel.

Benjamin’s Answer

Hi Mia! Hope you are doing well!

If you want to get into a great college, the best approach is to stop trying to check every single box and instead focus on telling a clear, authentic story of who you are. Start by challenging yourself academically. Schools want to see that you have pushed yourself with tough classes, even if it means getting a B instead of an easy A. Outside of the classroom, do not worry about joining a dozen different clubs just to pad your resume. Pick one or two things you actually care about, dive deep, and try to make a real impact or take on a leadership role. When it comes time to write your essays, do not write what you think admissions officers want to hear. Write in your own voice about something that genuinely matters to you. Ultimately, colleges are not just looking for perfect test scores. They are looking for curious, motivated people who will bring a unique perspective to their campus!

Wong’s Answer

Hi Mia. Getting into a good college or university does not mean you have to be excellent at math or science. Many universities value students who are strong in other subjects and who show dedication, leadership, and good study habits. If your interests are in areas such as English, history, business, communications, psychology, art, or education, there are many excellent programs that do not require advanced math or science courses.

One of the best methods to get into a good university is to focus on maintaining strong grades in all of your classes, especially the subjects you enjoy and perform well in. Colleges look at your overall academic record, not just your math and science scores. Taking challenging courses, completing assignments on time, and showing improvement over the years can make your application more competitive.

It is also helpful to participate in extracurricular activities. Joining clubs, volunteering, playing sports, working part-time, or taking leadership roles can demonstrate responsibility and commitment. Colleges appreciate students who are involved in their communities and who contribute outside the classroom.

Your path will become clearer when you start taking action rather than waiting for certainty. Try a short internship, contribute to an open project, or shadow someone in a field you are considering. Practical experience is the fastest way to find the right direction.

Well mathematics are important since math scores are part of SATs that colleges look at science is not soo get a tutor for math and work on that your grades are also important soo keep them up and dont take any science classes if thats not your strong suit...good colleges are not as important as are your field of study many young people are overly concerned about the prestige of a college and pick a field of study that in 4 yrs when they get a degree that is not marketable and can't find a JOB .....that should be your main concern i.e. a career that will not only get them a job but you find interesting or exciting it is something that most 1st yr students have no idea about....
It's best to at least have an idea as to where your going to be in 4 or more yrs soo forget about a good college its more important to have an idea as to what you want to be or do then pick a school that has a program that will help you accomplish that goal soooo good luck
