Can you rely on your college counselors for the majority of your schedule, or is it important to be self-reliant and research specific classes that are crucial to getting your degree ?

I am a high school senior who is committed to going to community college. I watched a lot of videos online where upperclassmen talk about their experiences going to community college and building their resumes and CV's to the point where they could transfer to a University of their liking. However, I don't know if my schedule is something I need to worry a lot about in terms of making sure everything lines up for the University I'm looking to transfer to.

As a student transferring from a community college to a four-year university for civil engineering major, what is the best way to quickly find research opportunities or internships How can I effectively network with professors and local firms during my first semester on a new campus?

I am an incoming junior transferring from a community college to a university to complete my degree in Civil Engineering. Because I’m arriving halfway through the program, I feel like I have less time to build the necessary connections for research and internships before graduation

How do you figure out the right career path for yourself and what would you recommend doing early in college to explore different options without falling behind?

I'm a freshman in college and am about to finish my spring semester. I already feel like I'm running out of time to figure out my major and career goals. I don't know how I'm supposed to transfer from community college to a 4 year by the fall semester if I still have no clue what I want to do in my future.

How do you stay motivated while pursuing a demanding degree?

For context, I come from a low-income background and am pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine. I know that this career path is difficult in terms of coursework and requires many years of schooling. I am transferring from a Community College to a 4-year institution this fall, with veterinary school following afterward. As I am transferring into such a specific major so my academic pathway requires at least 2.5 years, with the addition of taking Summer and Winter classes, with veterinary school being 4 years. My financial background also sets me back in struggling to pay for school and likely needing to work full time, which hinders my studies. Veterinary school is noted to be very competitive, and most people get rejected in their first year of applying. I am trying to stay optimistic throughout the hardships and also want to make the most of my time in college. Overall, how do you stay motivated in such a difficult career path while also balancing personal life, work, and getting involved on campus? #Spring25

Best college program as a double-major undergrad transfer student?

I’m currently a third-year undergrad student, double majoring in Criminology & Film. I currently have 90 out of 120 credits to graduate at my current university but I have to withdraw and find a new school for personal reasons. I'm currently double-majoring in both Criminology and Film. My criminology degree falls under my university's “Justice & Law” degree, criminology being one of the concentrations (“International Terrorism” & “Legal Studies” being the other two). My film major falls under their School of Communication, as a degree in “Film & Media studies”. I was wondering if someone out there could help me find a school with classes most similar to what I’ve been studying already. I'm looking for a school that offers a Bachelor's in both Criminology & Film or something similar. I feel very overhwled! The best case scenario would be to find a school that will let me retake the least amount of courses/credits in order to graduate, since most transfer students are required to take extra courses that extend their graduation date. Any help is appreciated!

Dorm, on campus living; vs apartment, off campus living...

#campus #college-life #college-advice #residence-life #transferstudent I have orientation for transfer students coming up and will most likely be commuting for at least my first semester. The reason being, I don't want too much debt when I get out of college, and also, I would like to meet someone I am compatible with to be room mates! When I decide to be a resident student, I am wondering if I would benefit more from living on campus vs off campus, especially since I will be a Junior and not a Freshman. Are most Dorm students Freshman?
